1000 Voices is an organisation dedicated to amplifying the voices of Black British changemakers. Our vision is a world where the voices of black British changemakers are celebrated and empowered, creating a ripple effect that drives systemic change. In our pursuit, we aim to:
In the early 70's, my grandfather was the Foreign Affairs Minister in Ghana. After a coup d'etat in 1979, he was imprisoned and sentenced to 150 years. Unlike many of his colleagues that were executed, he was released after just 3 months, a testament to his character and the respect he commanded.
He passed away before I had a chance to meet him and glean wisdom from his experiences. This personal void led me to wonder: How many other voices - full of wisdom are we missing out on? And what's the cost of that societal void?
This led to the inception of 1000 Voices. 1000 Voices is dedicated to ensuring that the powerful stories of Black British changemakers are archived, heard and celebrated. We are capturing the essence of these powerful stories and channeling them into a force for societal change.
We drive change by presenting inspiring stories of Black British changemakers and providing them a platform to share their experiences and insights. Our podcast serves as the foundation of our mission, featuring in-depth discussions that delve into the challenges and successes of our guests.
Beyond the podcast, we extend our impact through consulting organisations looking to connect and expand into Black British consumer segments, workshops that equip individuals with the leadership and storytelling skills needed to drive positive socioeconomic change, live events that promote a sense of community and collective action. By engaging with a diverse range of media, we aim to create a lasting legacy of positive stories, contributing to a more just and equitable society.
